Unique Permit, gaining residence in Albania as self-employed. In accordance with the provisions of law no. 79/2021 “On foreigners” and VKM no. 858, dated 29.12.2021 “On the determination of the criteria, procedures and documentation for the entry, stay and treatment of foreigners in the Republic of Albania” the responsible migration authorities provide the foreign citizen with a “Unique Permit as self-employed” when the submitted documentation is in accordance with the law requirements for this type of Residence Permit.
The main requirement to be provided with this category of Residence Permit being self-employed within the Albanian territory (opening a business registered in the National Business Center as a limited liability company or natural person).
It is the foreign citizen who should initiate the procedure by submitting a request to the responsible migration authority. After the online application is processed, the applicant shall submit the necessary documentation which consists of:
- a valid copy of the passport,
- a document proving accommodation in Republic of Albania,
- documents showing that you are really interested in investing in Albania and your business will be a good impact for the Albanian economy, etc.
Recently, in fulfillment of point 3, the authorities require 2 additional documents including a business plan and a bank statement from the company bank account with at least 5000 Euro in it, or if the company is new, a certification from the bank proving that the company has an active bank account.
The Unique Permit can be renewed if the foreign citizen continues to fulfill the criteria defined in the law and is redirected with a request for “renewal of residence permit” 60 days before the expiration of the existing permit.
